Nature Areas Stewardship
Caring for the wild heart of our park—where nature and community thrive together.
Our natural areas need more than just protection; they need active care to remain healthy, resilient, and welcoming for both wildlife and visitors. Our stewardship approach balances ecological health with community enjoyment.

When Nature Needs a Helping Hand
Left completely alone, our natural areas face mounting pressures—from invasive species to climate change, from erosion to overuse in popular spots. The days when nature could simply "take care of itself" have passed as human impacts reach even our most pristine spaces. Without thoughtful intervention, we risk losing the very qualities that make these areas special.
Stewardship in Action
Our volunteer stewards are the guardians who maintain trail edges, monitor wildlife, identify emerging issues, and guide restoration projects. We practice "light-touch" management—doing just enough to help nature thrive without over-managing. We've established monitoring programs to track ecosystem health, created sustainable trails that minimize impact on sensitive areas, and developed management plans that adapt as conditions change. The result? Natural spaces that are more diverse, resilient, and capable of supporting both wildlife and human visitors.
Become a Park Guardian
You don't need a biology degree to help protect our natural areas—just a love for this special place and willingness to learn. Join our stewardship team for monthly workdays, adopt a specific section of trail or habitat to monitor, or support our efforts with a donation that funds native plants, sustainable trail materials, and educational workshops. The more eyes watching over our natural areas, the healthier they'll remain for generations to come.
