Summer Solstice Skies: Celebrating the Season of Stars

The Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection invites you to a special early summer dark sky event featuring expert guidance through the wonders of our summer night sky. Beginning at 8:45 PM (just after sunset at 8:40 PM), this evening offers excellent viewing conditions with minimal moonlight interference. June's transparent skies provide perfect conditions for observing globular clusters, nebulae, and the magnificent summer Milky Way.

This educational program features knowledgeable astronomers who will point out seasonal constellations, share star lore, and offer viewing through telescopes. Learn about light pollution's impact on nocturnal wildlife and ecosystems while experiencing the natural darkness that earned our park its prestigious Silver Tier International Dark-Sky status. The event takes place in designated park areas as described in our Dark Sky Park Protocol. No pre-registration is required. Weather cancellations will be posted on the park website.
