RLEP Dark Sky Event: August Program

The Rappahannock County Recreational Facilities Authority, jointly with the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection, will hold its third dark sky event of the year at the Rappahannock County Park pavilion on Saturday evening, August 8. The event begins at 8:15 pm with two short presentations.

Justin Proctor of Virginia Working Landscapes will open with "Dark Skies Updates from Front Royal," describing a lighting fixture replacement program and other dark sky initiatives in Front Royal, VA.

James Granahan of the Northern Virginia Astronomy Club will follow with "Exploring the Night Sky with Binoculars."

Following the presentations, everyone is invited to observe night sky objects through available telescopes. WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!

Sunset at 8:14 pm. The Perseid meteor shower, the best of the year, peaks August 12-13, just days after this event. No registration required for Program Events.
